Bar Council of India (BCI) has suspended 107 fake lawyers. Between 2019 and 2024, the Bar Council has delisted the names of 107 lawyers from Delhi.
BCI has said in a statement on October 26, ‘This decision has been taken with the aim of identifying and eliminating fake lawyers. This step is to maintain people’s confidence in the judiciary and protect the legal system from unethical activities.’
The Bar Council also claims that between 2019 and 2024, thousands of lawyers were asked to show their credentials. Those who could not show valid proof of practice and certificate were expelled. Also, the names of those fake lawyers have been removed from the list of lawyers.
It should be noted that a few days ago in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, a fake court was opened and the news of fraud has come to light! The police have already arrested the accused judge in that incident. The accused has been identified as Maurice Samuel Christian. It is alleged that he was running the fake court for the last five years. The accused used to trap those whose land related cases were under trial in the City Sessions Court. In return for a certain amount of money, the fake judge used to lure the cases accumulated in the city sessions court to be heard in his own court. In this situation, the Bar Council announced the expulsion of 107 lawyers.
