Two people were killed and 30 injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck in Shaistaganj on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway. The accident took place today at 7 pm on Thursday.

The deceased were Abdul Aziz, a resident of Sylhet, a truck driver and Raju Mia, a bus driver. The injured are Abdul Jalil (70), Runa Akhtar (50), Shamim Ahmed (30) and many others.

The injured have been admitted to Habiganj Sadar Hospital. As the condition of three of them is critical, they have been referred to Sylhet and Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Meanwhile, traffic on the highway was stopped. Later, the police, fire service and army went to the spot and brought the situation back to normal.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shaistaganj Highway Police Station ATM Mahmudul Haque said that a Shahi Paribahan bus coming from the opposite direction collided with a Sylhet-bound Balubozhai truck in the Sutang area of ​​Shaistaganj on the highway. Then the bus and truck were twisted. A number of casualties were reported.
Meanwhile, Abdul Aziz died on the way to Dhaka and Raju Mia died in Habiganj Sadar Hospital. There were also complaints of looting the goods of accident-prone vehicles.
