BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy has said that the results of absolute power through banning political parties never bring anything good. He made this comment at a discussion meeting at the National Press Club on Monday (November 4). The Independence Forum organized a discussion meeting titled ‘Today’s Bangladesh in the Context of the Great National Revolution and Solidarity Day’ on November 7.
Gayeshwar said that people from all walks of life liberated the country and the Awami League formed the government. Are they following the constitution they wrote in 1972? Theft, robbery, extortion, bank robbery, women’s suffrage – were these written in the constitution? They violated the 1972 constitution. They violated the constitution and established a one-party rule. In the last 52 years, there is no party in Bangladesh that has violated the constitution like the Awami League.
Sheikh Hasina has not obeyed the law for so long. Now she is afraid of the law. He believes that he would not have fled the country if he had not been afraid.
Saluting the student leaders who led the July Revolution, the BNP leader said, “The people of the country will be happy if they do what they should do based on their experience in building the country. The people of the country want elections, and the BNP also wants elections. No stubborn decision brings peace. Ziaur Rahman gave all the banned political parties a chance to do politics. He also gave the Awami League a chance to do politics. Ziaur Rahman is the second leader of the Awami League. The first leader is Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani.
Stating that the results of absolute power by banning any political party never bring anything good, he said, “Whom should we declare banned, they themselves have banned themselves and fled the country. There is no one to give a statement, no one to give slogans.
The meeting was presided over by Independence Forum President Abu Naser Muhammad Rahmatullah and was also attended by BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuddin Dudu, Chairperson’s Advisory Council member Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, and Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon.
