Chief Advisor meets with heads of relevant commissions to know progress of work of 6 commissions

Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus met with heads of relevant commissions to know progress of work of 6 commissions formed by interim government for state reforms. In this meeting held at the office of the head of government in Tejgaon in the capital on Monday (November 4), the commission heads informed him about the progress of the commission’s work.

In the meeting, Badiul Alam Majumder said about the progress of the work of the Election Reform Commission, ensuring the voting rights of expatriates, voting through postal ballots and coordinating the voter list with the national identity card. In addition, he presented their partial proposals to the chief advisor to increase women’s participation in elections.

Informing about the progress of the work of the Public Administration Reform Commission, Commission Head Abdul Muyid Chowdhury said that everyone’s opinions have already been collected through the website on public administration reforms.

Commission Head Safar Raj Hossain informed the chief advisor about the progress of the work of the Police Reform Commission. He said that a questionnaire has been prepared to seek public opinion and has been placed on the website. At the same time, the proposals for amending some laws and rules in police reform are being scrutinized.

In addition, the heads of other commissions presented their progress and important reform proposals to the chief advisor.

The meeting was attended by Electoral Reform Commission Chief Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, Public Administration Reform Commission Chief Abdul Mueed Chowdhury, Police Reform Commission Chief Safar Raj Hossain, Judiciary Reform Commission Chief Shah Abu Naeem Mominur Rahman, Anti-Corruption Reform Commission Chief Iftekharuzzaman and Constitutional Reform Commission Chief Professor Ali Riaz.

Sheikh Hasina, the ousted Awami League Prime Minister, left the country for India on August 5 in the mass uprising of students and the public. Then on August 8, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus took charge as the head of the interim government. Later, in his address to the nation on September 11, he announced the formation of six reform commissions to reform the state.

Professor Yunus said in his speech that they want reforms. We want to start a new journey as a nation through reforms. And as an initial step of reforms, it has been decided to form six commissions initially. Later, six commissions were formed with six eminent citizens as the heads of the commissions. The commissions officially started their activities from last month.
