Home Affairs Advisor retired Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam said that all street shops will be removed for the time being. The sidewalk shops will remain.
He made this statement at a press briefing after a special meeting on the law and order situation in the Dhaka Metropolitan Area at around 11:15 am on Wednesday (November 6).
Stating that the law and order situation in Dhaka has improved a lot than before, the Home Affairs Advisor said that various steps will be taken to improve it further.
Warning against extortion, no matter how influential, the advisor said, “Extortion has increased compared to before. However, extortion will not be allowed in any way. The way law and order has been brought under control recently in Mohammadpur area, such a situation will be improved in various places in Dhaka on that model.”
The advisor said that whoever the culprit is, he will not be spared. The police who have come from outside Dhaka will need time to get to know the alleys. They need to be given some time.
