The businessman was shot dead during a recent protest. On November 6, the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) arrested Amir Hossain Amu from the capital’s Dhanmondi area.
On Thursday (November 7), the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahin Reza’s court ordered the former minister Amu to be remanded after a hearing.
The investigation officer of the case, Police Inspector Jahangir Arip of the DB Police’s Ramna Zonal Team, had applied for his 10-day remand. Dhaka Metropolitan Public Prosecutor Omar Faruk Faruki conducted the hearing in favor of granting the remand. The defendant’s lawyer applied for bail, seeking cancellation of the remand. After the hearing, the court ordered the remand.
