Three people took oath as advisors to the interim government at Bangabhaban today. Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid told reporters this information.
The new advisors are scheduled to be sworn in at Bangabhaban on Sunday evening. Businessman Sheikh Bashir Uddin, film director Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui and special assistant to the chief advisor Mahfuz Alam will take oath as new advisors, according to Bangabhaban sources.
Sheikh Bashir Uddin is the managing director of the country’s leading industrial group Akij Bashir Group. He is the son of Sheikh Akij Uddin. Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui is a renowned filmmaker. He has become a familiar face by making films and dramas for more than two decades.
After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government in the student-public uprising, the interim government was formed on August 8 with Dr. Muhammad Yunus as the chief advisor. The number of members of this government, including the chief advisor, is now 21. However, suggestions were coming from various quarters to appoint more members to the advisory council to bring dynamism to the government’s activities.
