Letter to IGP to issue red notice to Interpol

Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam has written to the Inspector General of Police to take steps to issue Interpol red notices to arrest former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and fugitive Awami League leaders who fled to India in the International Crimes Tribunal case.

This information was revealed by the tribunal’s prosecution agency on Tuesday (November 12).

Earlier, after inspecting the renovation work of the International Crimes Tribunal on November 10, Legal Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul told reporters that all steps will be taken to bring back all the fugitive accused, including Sheikh Hasina, who is accused in the July-August genocide case filed with the International Crimes Tribunal. The interim government is going to issue red notices through Interpol to bring the fugitive accused to justice.

He said that the red notice will be issued through Interpol very soon. The fugitive fascist gang will be caught and brought to justice wherever they are in the world.

On October 17, the International Crimes Tribunal issued arrest warrants against Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader and 46 others in separate cases alleging genocide and crimes against humanity committed in July-August.

In addition, the others against whom arrest warrants were issued are Sheikh Hasina’s younger sister Sheikh Rehana, Sheikh Hasina’s cabinet members Mohammad A Arafat, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Anisul Haque, Dipu Moni, AKM Mozammel Haque, Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, former ministers Junaid Ahmed Palak, Sheikh Selim, Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh, Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash, former IGP Abdullah Al Mamun, former DB chief Harun Or Rashid, former police officer Biplob Kumar Sarkar, Prolay Kumar Joarder, former DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman, former RAB DG Harun Or Rashid, former army officer Ziaul Ahsan, Sheikh Hasina’s former advisor Tariq Ahmed Siddiqui, Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, Dr. Zafar Iqbal, former police officer Monirul Islam and 46 others.

The three-judge bench, headed by International Crimes Tribunal Chairman Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder, issued the order. The other two judges are Justice Md. Shafiul Alam Mahmud and Justice Md. Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.

Earlier, Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam had filed an application for the issuance of arrest warrants against 46 people in separate cases.
