Secondary and Higher Education Department (Bangla and English versions) and Dakhil and Technical students of classes six and seven will receive new textbooks in January next year, said Finance Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.
He gave this information after a meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Government Procurement at the Secretariat on Wednesday.
The Finance Advisor said that the Advisory Council Committee on Government Procurement has approved the printing of textbooks of Bangla and English versions of sixth and seventh classes and textbooks of technical boards in the 2025 academic year. Students of classes six and seven and technical boards will receive the textbooks in early January next year.
According to the meeting sources, approval has been given to print textbooks for the Secondary and Higher Education Department (Bengali and English versions) and Dakhil and Technical classes for the sixth and seventh classes as well as for the first, second and third classes of Ebtedayi. A total of Tk 527 crore 93 lakh 32 thousand 777 will be spent on printing, binding and supplying 12 crore 64 lakh 61 thousand 646 textbooks for these classes.
The Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement has approved the purchase proposal for printing, binding and supplying 7 crore 31 lakh 29 thousand 859 free textbooks for the first, second and third classes of Ebtedayi and Secondary (Bengali and English versions), Dakhil and Technical classes. These textbooks will be taken from 79 institutions in 107 lots. A total of Tk 287 crore 61 lakh 67 thousand 138 will be spent on this. This approval has been given in view of the proposal of the Secondary and Higher Education Department.
In view of another proposal of the Secondary and Higher Education Department, the Advisory Council Committee has approved the purchase proposal for printing, binding and supplying 53.331787 textbooks for Secondary (Bangla and English versions) Class 7, Dakhil Class 7 and Technical Class 7 free of cost. These textbooks will be purchased from 69 institutions in 99 lots. A total of Tk 240.3165639 will be spent on this.
