Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Advisor Professor Asif Nazrul has been ‘stands released’ on charges of harassing him in Switzerland, and the Bangladesh Mission in Geneva has been asked to return to Dhaka as soon as possible.

On November 7, Asif Nazrul went to Geneva Airport to return home after a meeting with the International Labor Organization (ILO) governing body and senior officials of the organization. At that time, he was under embassy protocol. After getting out of the car, a group of people suddenly surrounded him and started asking him various questions.

A video related to this went viral on social media. It shows Asif Nazrul trying to calm them down and handle the situation alone. The legal advisor was accompanied by Muhammad Kamrul Islam, the labor counselor of the Geneva mission, and Mizan, who was appointed as a local worker of the mission. However, both of them played a silent role at that time. Due to their indifferent role, Muhammad Kamrul Islam has been given a stand release. It was also decided to dismiss Mizan.

After this incident, the interim government has sent an urgent circular to all Bangladesh missions abroad. In it, the missions have been asked to be careful about two things during the official visits of important government officials. It has been told to ensure security and provide proper protocols during the visits of important government officials abroad and to be more careful to avoid any untoward incident during the visits.
