Police have arrested Ruma Akhter, the mastermind behind the murder of businessman Md. Jasim Uddin Masum (62) in Rupganj, Narayanganj. Narayanganj Superintendent of Police Pratyush Kumar Majumder made this known at a press conference at his office on Thursday (November 14) at around 4:30 pm.
At that time, the chapati, hacksaw blade used in the murder and the safari suit worn by the deceased Masum were recovered. Accused Ruma Akhter is the daughter of Nazar Ali of Tatrakanda area of Gouripur, Mymensingh.
At the press conference, he said that during the initial interrogation, Ruma confessed to the murder. According to the information given by her, other parts of Masum’s body were found.
The Superintendent of Police said that industrialist Masum had an illicit love affair with Ruma. In the context of this love affair, on November 10, Masum was first killed by giving him an anesthetic drug mixed with milk at Ruma’s rented house in Sheorapara. Ruma then chopped his body into pieces with a chapati and a hacksaw blade and dumped it in various places including the pathao’s car. The police are conducting a special operation to arrest others involved in the incident.
According to the family and police sources of the deceased Masum, on the afternoon of November 10, Jasim left his house in a car and went to Gulshan. Then he let go of his personal driver. He had told the driver that he would go to the factory in Narayanganj in another car. However, when he did not return home at night and his mobile was switched off, his eldest son filed a GD at Gulshan police station the next day.
Incidentally, on Wednesday, police recovered the severed head, two hands, two severed legs, chest part, and the lungs, lungs and liver of industrialist Jasim Uddin Masum, who was severed with a sharp weapon, wrapped in a white polythene bag from the bank of a lake in Sector 5 of Purbachal. He is the owner of Chand Dyeing in Fatulla.
