The general holiday on August 15 has been canceled to mark the National Day of Mourning.

The Ministry of Public Administration gave this information at 8 pm on Tuesday.

This holiday of August 15 has been canceled by order of the President. Earlier this general holiday of August 15 was given on the occasion of National Mourning Day.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Interim Government Home Affairs Advisor Brigadier General (retd.) M Sakhawat Hossain said, today we will discuss the August 15 holiday. The matter will be decided there.

On the other hand, Hefazet Islam Bangladesh has demanded the cancellation of the National Day of Mourning on August 15. This demand was made in a statement signed by Maulana Azizul Haque, Joint Secretary General of Hefazat Islam Bangladesh on Monday.

In addition to canceling the holiday in the statement, the organization also gave an ultimatum to remove all the sculptures of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from all over the country by August 15.

The statement also said that Sheikh Mujib and Hasina have given the country nothing but misrule during their rule. We will ask the interim government to cancel the August 15 public holiday immediately. We will not allow any fascist icons to be reinstated.
