Trade Advisor Sheikh Bashir Uddin said that prices of daily necessities are not decreasing due to weaknesses in supply management. The government is trying to control prices of daily necessities by increasing supply in the market through field supervision and importing goods.
He said these things at the inauguration ceremony of TCB’s potato sales program at Karwan Bazar in the capital on Wednesday (November 20) morning.
Stating that all measures are being taken to increase the supply of goods in the market, Sheikh Bashir Uddin said, “Inflation in the market is mainly supply-centered. Prices of daily necessities are not decreasing due to the weakness of the supply system. However, all measures are being taken to increase supply. Customs duties have been reduced on some products. This has reduced prices to some extent. Consumer Rights has been instructed to work more vigorously to maintain supply.”
Says that the government is aware of the people’s suffering, the Trade Advisor said that rice admani has already started. Permission has been granted to import about 20 crore eggs. We are working extensively on oil. We are working in coordination with all parties ahead of Ramadan.
Stating that India-Pakistan or China will not meet in terms of imports, Bashir Uddin said that Bangladesh has no commercial tension with any country. Trade liberalization will continue.
Talking about the program of selling potatoes at 40 taka per kg, the Trade Advisor said that 3 kg of potatoes are being sold to consumers at 40 taka per person at 50 places in Dhaka Metropolitan City. This program will continue until the situation normalizes. If necessary, the scope will be expanded.
At this time, the Trade Advisor inaugurated the program of selling potatoes at 40 taka per kg through TCB truck sales in Dhaka Metropolitan City and Chittagong. Under this program, residents of the capital will be able to buy potatoes at 40 taka per kg from today. However, one person can buy a maximum of 3 kg.
In a statement, the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) said that from November 20, 3 kg of potatoes will be sold to consumers in Dhaka city at a price of 40 taka per kg. In addition, under the overall directives of the Ministry of Commerce, the sale of TCB products (edible oil and pulses) at subsidized prices among one crore low-income beneficiary card-holding families is ongoing.
Along with this program, TCB products such as oil, pulses and rice are being sold to general consumers at subsidized prices through 50 trucks in Dhaka city and 20 trucks in Chittagong city. In addition, edible oil can be purchased at 100 taka per liter, lentils at 60 taka per kilogram and rice at 30 taka per kilogram. A person can buy a maximum of 2 liters of oil, 2 kg of lentils and 5 kg of rice.
