A court has granted five-day remand to Law Minister Anisul Haque in the garment worker Fazlul Karim murder case at the capital’s Uttara Purba Police Station. Police produced him from jail to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (November 20).
Then, the investigating officer of the case, DB Police Inspector Md. Mahmudur Rahman, applied for his 10-day remand. At this time, the accused applied for cancellation of the remand and bail. On the other hand, the state opposed bail.
After hearing both sides, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Imran Ahmed rejected his bail and ordered a remand.
On August 13, former Law Minister Anisul Haque was arrested from the Sadarghat area of the capital while he was fleeing by boat based on confidential information.
According to sources in the case, Fazlul Karim was shot and injured during an anti-discrimination student movement on August 5. He later died while undergoing treatment. The deceased’s brother filed a case with the capital’s Uttara Purba Police Station, naming 40 people.
