RAB has arrested 3 killers involved in the murder of autorickshaw driver Sujit Das in Jagannathpur, Sunamganj. A knife was recovered along with the stolen autorickshaw at that time. OC Mokhlesur Rahman Akand informed reporters about this at a press briefing at 8 pm on Tuesday.
RAB-9 arrested them from Shayestaganj area of Habiganj on Tuesday afternoon. The arrested accused have been handed over to Jagannathpur Police Station.
The arrested accused are Ali Haider (36), son of Ansar Ali of Shaldigha village of Chilaura union of Jagannathpur upazila, Hafizur Rahman (26), son of the deceased Tarmuz Ali of Nohati village of Sadar upazila of Habiganj district, and Md. Shiblu Mia (20), son of Abdul Hai of Panar Abda village of Bahubal police station of the same district.
Jagannathpur police station held a press briefing at the police station around 8 pm in this regard. In the press briefing, Jagannathpur police station officer-in-charge Mokhlesur Rahman Akand said that the police had been active in identifying and arresting the killers since the murder of Sujit. At one stage, RAB-9’s technical cooperation was sought. In view of this, a joint operation of RAB-9, CPC-3, Sunamganj and CPC-3, Shayestaganj Camps conducted a raid on Bahubali and Shayestaganj police stations of Habiganj district from late night on Monday. Later, with the help of technology, the killers were identified and arrested from Shayestaganj, Habiganj.
At that time, the hijacked CNG-powered auto-rickshaw and the blood-stained knife used in the murder were recovered. The OC said that the law enforcement agencies are active in investigating whether anyone else is involved in this murder. The hijacked auto-rickshaw has been brought to Jagannathpur police station.
Incidentally, last Saturday night, the police recovered the butchered body of auto-rickshaw driver Sujit Das (30) from the Raniganj bridge on the Sunamganj-Jagannathpur-Dhaka regional highway. Sujit was a member of the Raniganj CNG stand. Initially, it was believed that; The miscreants slit the driver’s throat and threw him on the Raniganj Bridge to rob his car. Sujit’s elder brother Subash Das filed a murder case against unknown accused on Monday night.
