Services should be made transparent and people-oriented for ordinary citizens who go to various government departments, including RAJUK, to receive services, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Water Resources and Environment, Forest and Climate Change, has said.
She said that steps should be taken to create a positive perception of the general public towards their institutions.
Rizwana Hasan said these things in her speech as the chief guest at a seminar organized on the occasion of ‘Planning Week-2024’ at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) on Monday (November 25) morning.
Rizwana said that in the past years, Bangladesh’s development has not been based on equity. Development plans have been changed for group interests without putting national interests above them. The plans have been destroyed in such a way that it is difficult to say how much can be recovered.
Referring to the revamping of Dhaka’s public transport, the advisor said, “This time we have given bus owners 6 months to replace old and outdated buses. We have told them that if necessary, they will be provided with loans on easy terms.”
He said, “If we can drive without horns inside the cantonment and not litter anywhere inside the cantonment, why can’t we decorate the rest of the city?” The cities should be decorated in a beautiful way.
Present at the event were BUET’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Hasib, RAJUK Chairman Retired Major General Md. Siddiqur Rahman, BUET’s URP Department Head and URP Students Association of Buet (USAB) President Professor Dr. Asif Uz-Zaman Khan, among others.
