From now on, no auto-rickshaws will run on main roads. However, these vehicles will run on internal roads as before.

The owners and workers have agreed to the police’s proposal not to run battery-powered rickshaws on the main roads of the capital. The decision was made in a meeting with Dhaka Police Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat ​​Ali on Wednesday (November 27), said Additional Commissioner (Media) of the Metropolitan Police Md. Obaidur Rahman.

He said that a delegation of battery-powered rickshaw drivers, owners, garage owners and rickshaw-van-easy bike workers’ union met with the police commissioner today.

In light of the Chamber Court’s verdict, the DMP Commissioner said that from now on, no auto-rickshaws will run on main roads. However, these vehicles will run on internal roads as before. He also urged everyone to be careful so that no new auto-rickshaws enter the capital’s roads.

The Dhaka Police Commissioner sought everyone’s cooperation in following traffic laws and maintaining order on the roads.

For the past few days, battery-powered rickshaw drivers have been protesting in various areas of the capital demanding a stay on the High Court’s order to ban battery-powered rickshaws in different areas.

Earlier, on November 25, the Chamber Court had given a one-month stay on the High Court’s order to ban battery-powered rickshaws in the Dhaka metropolitan area within three days.
