Health Advisor Nurjahan Begum said, I have a list of over 40 doctors who went abroad and did not return to the country. Despite sending them letters several times, they did not come to the country. How can we accept such a waste of money as a poor country? There is no problem in training outside the country. But that they return to the country. This is my wish.
She said this in her speech as the chief guest at the inaugural session of the Scientific Seminar on the occasion of World Movement Disorders Day organized by the Society of Neurologists of Bangladesh at the National Institute of Neurosciences Hospital on Saturday (November 30).
Nurjahan Begum said, our entire healthcare system has become treatment-centric. We should take appropriate preventive measures to prevent diseases. For this, it is extremely important to create awareness among all of us. It is worth seeing how our doctors, nurses, and technologists have served during the Covid situation. No one had to go abroad. Everyone received treatment in the country. If they can handle such major disasters, it is hoped that they will be able to handle the remaining disasters.
Regarding the training of doctors, Nurjahan said, I saw in the meeting minutes of the ministry that it is said that there is no training in 2-3 days. But that is true. Will doctors go for three days and get trained? There can be meetings and symposiums in the three-day program. However, I think the training time should be increased. So that we can learn things hands-on. I have no objection to long training. Be it one week or two weeks.
The inaugural session was presided over by the convener of the Society of Neurologists of Bangladesh, Dr. MA Hannan. Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services, Professor Md. Abu Zafar, Director of the National Institute of Neurosciences Hospital, Professor Kazi Din Mohammad, Member Secretary of the Society of Neurologists of Bangladesh, Dr. Mohammad Nazmul Huda and others.
