BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has strongly condemned the attack by extremists on the premises of the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in northern India’s Agartala.
He said that the attack on the premises of the Assistant High Commission by members of an organization called ‘Hindu Sangharsh Samity’ is believed to have been pre-planned. Entering the Assistant High Commission, taking down the Bangladesh flag, setting it on fire and vandalizing it is a clear violation of the Geneva Convention.
The BNP Secretary General said these things in a statement sent to the media on Tuesday afternoon.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “We would like to request the Indian government and the Indian people that the use of hatred as a tactic of your internal politics in Bangladesh will create long-term tension in the relations between the two countries.”
He said, “We hope that Indians will respect the democratic aspirations of the citizens of the new Bangladesh and help bring back and prosecute all the leaders who were in India during the previous fascist Awami regime.”
