It has been bitterly cold across the country for several days. The cold is increasing in the morning and evening. It is difficult to see the sun during the day due to fog. And the incidence of diseases is increasing due to the cold. Newborns, children and the elderly are more affected by cold-cough, pneumonia, shortness of breath, fever and viral diarrhea. More people are being affected. Doctors in Habiganj district are struggling to handle the pressure of patients.
In some hospitals, including Habiganj Sadar Hospital, patients are being admitted twice and three times more than the beds. Many children are dying due to cold.
Meanwhile, the pressure of children with cold-related diseases has increased in Habiganj Sadar Hospital for several days.
On a visit to Habiganj Sadar Hospital, it was seen that there is no room to store sesame seeds. About a hundred people, including children and the elderly, have been admitted due to cold-related diseases.
Parents of patients coming to the emergency department and outpatient department mostly talk about pneumonia, influenza, colds, and diarrhea. Doctors are admitting them after checking their physical condition. The rest are being sent home with medical advice. However, the relatives of the patients said that the only food available at Sadar Hospital is saline.
Stating that children should not be kept in excessive heat, the doctors said that many times it is seen that parents give the child too much heat while taking extra care of them. The sweat that comes out of the child’s body is not good for his health at all. Besides, doors and windows cannot be kept closed all day. Light and air must be allowed to enter the house. Children cannot be taken out without special need. Besides, the child must be ensured a balanced diet.
