Chhatra League leader tied to a tree and handed over to the police after being beaten up

A banned Chhatra League activist was tied to a tree and beaten up by locals in Gabtoli, Bogra, on charges of harassing a schoolgirl. The accused Chhatra League leader has been named as Leader Ridiyat Hossain Barna (28). Later, the police went and rescued him. The incident took place in Pirgachha of the upazila on Thursday (December 19) afternoon.

Ridiyat Hossain Barna is the son of Awami League leader Shahinur Rahman of Kamarchatta village in Rameshwarpur union and is the children’s affairs secretary of the upazila Chhatra League.

According to information from the police and locals, there are several cases against Barna, including sabotage. On Thursday, locals arrested Ridiyat Hossain while he was harassing a schoolgirl and tied him to a tree and beat him up. Later, the police reached the spot and rescued him.

Rameshwarpur Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Abdul Wahab said that Barna is a terrorist. There are many allegations against him. The locals are fed up with his torture. On Thursday, an agitated crowd thrashed him for harassing a student.

Gabtoli Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Asiq Iqbal said that local people detained him and informed the police station about the incident of harassing a student. Later, the police went and arrested him. There are multiple cases against him.
