The job of the Awami League government’s press wing was to stop news. However, the current interim government is not doing anything like that, said Shafiqul Alam, the press secretary to the chief advisor.
Shafiqul Alam, the press secretary to the chief advisor, believes that the wage board system should be abolished and a minimum salary should be introduced. He said that the wage board system is flawed.
He said this at a discussion on the topic of dialogue for democratic restructuring-media on Sunday (December 22) afternoon.
Journalists should not be hired below a basic salary. The minimum wage law should be strictly enforced. If anyone hires someone beyond the minimum salary, they should be closed down. Underground newspapers should be exposed. Shafiqul Alam commented that journalists are getting low salaries because of them.
Shafiqul Alam said, “In the case of news, content protection should be provided. Copyright protection should be provided to those who create original content.” Shafiqul Alam also commented that journalism is not a cheap thing. He also emphasized on identifying various failures of the media and stopping their repetition. He said that journalists need a strong union. Shafiqul Alam said that the government is trying to reform to make the unions independent.
We will welcome any of your opinions.
