The biggest religious festival of Christians, ‘Christmas’, will be celebrated next Wednesday (December 25). The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has said that bursting of firecrackers, fireworks and flying lanterns will not be allowed on this occasion. This information was given in a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali on Tuesday.
It said that the biggest religious festival of Christians, ‘Merry Christmas’, will be celebrated on December 25. In order to celebrate the event in a solemn and festive atmosphere, all types of fireworks, bursting of firecrackers and flying lanterns have been banned in the Dhaka Metropolitan Police area from 12 midnight on Tuesday (December 24) to 12 midnight on Wednesday (December 25).
The public notice further states that Dhaka Metropolitan Police seeks the full cooperation of the esteemed city residents in organizing the holy Christmas celebrations in a smooth and safe manner.
