The capital’s Central Shaheed Minar has been in turmoil with processions and slogans demanding Sheikh Hasina’s hanging, centered on the March for Unity, called for by the anti-discrimination student movement.

On Tuesday (December 31), slogans demanding Sheikh Hasina’s hanging were raised in the Shaheed Minar area around 3 pm. At that time, leaders and activists demanded the hanging of Sheikh Hasina and those involved in the July-August genocide.

Earlier, leaders and activists had been gathering at the Shaheed Minar since morning with a procession centered on the rally.

At this time, the protesters were heard chanting slogans like ‘Gangsi, g Many revolutionaries were seen standing in front of the Shaheed Minar with chairs spread out in front. Many had national flags draped over their heads.

In addition, students from various districts including Chittagong, Natore, Panchagarh, Sirajganj also took up positions at the Shaheed Minar and Dhaka University area since morning and gradually started coming to the Shaheed Minar with processions.

Students also came from Sylhet in the morning. They took up positions in the university area since morning.

The students said, we do not want the revolution to fail. We want the revolution to play a role in building the dream country of the future. At this time, they called on the people of the whole country to unite by taking an anti-fascist oath.

Incidentally, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement was supposed to read the Declaration of Independence at the Shaheed Minar today. Later, when the interim government announced that the declaration would be read, confusion started as to whether the declaration would be read or not.

The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement held a press conference at its office in Bangla Motorway around 1:45 am on Monday. It is said that a ‘March for Unity’ program will be held at the Central Shaheed Minar on Tuesday at 3 pm.
