Three more Additional Inspectors General of Police on compulsory retirement

Three more Additional Inspectors General of Police (Additional IGPs) have been sent on compulsory retirement. They are – Mallik Fakhrul Islam, YM Belalur Rahman and Selim Md. Jahangir.

This information was given in three separate notifications signed by Senior Secretary of the Home Ministry Nasimul Gani on Tuesday.

Additional IGP Mallik Fakhrul Islam was the Rector of Police Staff College in Dhaka, Selim Md. Jahangir was working at the Police Directorate and YM Belalur Rahman was working at Police Telecom.

The notification said that BCS police cadre officers Mallik Fakhrul Islam, YM Belalur Rahman and Selim Md. Jahangir were retired from government service in public interest as per Section 45 of the Government Services Act 2018. They will get retirement benefits as per the rules. The order, issued in the public interest, will come into effect immediately.

Since the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, many law enforcement officers have been sent on compulsory retirement. Earlier, on October 8, former RAB Director General and last Additional IG of Police Headquarters Barrister Harun Or Rashid, Highway Police Chief Shahabuddin Khan, and former Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and last working in the Tourist Police Khandaker Mohid Uddin were given compulsory retirement.

On September 22, Additional Inspector General of Railway Police Devdas Bhattacharya, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Integrated Industrial Area Police in Dhaka AKM Hafiz Akhter, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Telecom in Dhaka Bashir Ahmed, Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman, who was ordered to be integrated in Dhaka, Assistant Superintendent of Police Rafiqul Islam, and Assistant Commissioner of DMP Dadan Fakir were sent on compulsory retirement.

On September 2, Additional Inspector General of Police Headquarters Khandaker Lutful Kabir, Additional Inspector General of Tourist Police Mir Rezaul Alam, Additional Deputy Inspector General of Noakhali Police Training Center Chowdhury Manjurul Kabir, and Deputy Inspector General (Current Duty) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Imam Hossain were sent on compulsory retirement.
