Sylhet Correspondent //
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General and Chief Advisor of ‘Amra BNP Paribas’ Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said – In the past, a rock was hanging over the nation’s neck. People could not breathe, could not move comfortably. Political parties could not hold meetings and processions. Even if the police gave permission, the Jubo League and Chhatra League were dispersed. Sheikh Hasina tarnished the country’s independence for the second time. Our leader M. Ilias Ali was made to disappear because he took a long march towards Tipaimukh in support of the country. 650 other leaders and activists are still missing. Despite the terrible torture, we stood in front of bullets and fought on the streets to restore democracy. Even after that, we did not back down. As a result of the movement after enduring 15 and a half years of torture and oppression, Hasina has fallen in the July Revolution of the students and the masses. Our leader has been taken to prison and tortured. As a result of the democratic movement after 15 and a half years, fascism has fallen in the July-August Revolution of the students and the masses.
On Thursday (January 2) morning, Rizvi said these things while speaking as a special guest at a gift-giving ceremony for the family of the young cricketer Iqbal Hossain Emon, who won the Youth Asia Cup, on behalf of the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman at the Humayun Rashid Square in Sylhet metropolis.
He also said – today an Islamic political party claims itself to be the only patriotic political party and the army is the only patriotic one. The armed forces have always shown patriotism. But the patriots you claim to be; my question to you – what was your role in the great liberation war of 1971? In which sectors did you fight? Under the leadership of which sector commander did you fight?
Rizvi said – Now I hear that only the July-August murders will be tried in the next one year. But my question is – won’t those who disappeared M. Ilias Ali be tried? Won’t those who killed and tortured people during the democratic movement in the past 15 and a half years be tried?
Regarding the formation of ‘We BNP Family’, the senior joint secretary general of BNP said – The purpose of forming it under the leadership of Rumon and Mithun is; to stand by the families of those who were martyred and injured in the democratic movement across the country. This organization is delivering gifts to remote areas of the country on behalf of our acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
Under the chairmanship of Atiqur Rahman Rumon, convener of ‘We BNP Family’ and jointly hosted by Sylhet District BNP General Secretary Advocate Emran Ahmed Chowdhury, Metropolitan BNP General Secretary Imdad Hossain Chowdhury and Qatar BNP President Shariful Haque Saju, National Standing Committee member Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain spoke as the chief guest at the event.

Even though our leader is thousands of miles away, his mind is on the country. He thinks about the country and its people all the time. You will pray for our Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman so that he can return to the country in a healthy body with self-respect.
