Dr. Nazmul’s recruitment process of Sylhet Medical University is riddled with irregularities and corruption in Sylhet. The new recruitment process at Sylhet Medical University is once again in the spotlight. After the newly appointed Dr. Nazmul Islam joined as the dean, there has been a stir in the local community regarding this recruitment process.

It has been learned that strong lobbying is going on to bring back some of the alleged dishonest officials who were appointed in exchange for bribery during the dictatorship-fascist Awami government. The ousted Awami comrades have not stopped running even after the July-August student-public uprising. BNP leaders and Dr. Nazmul Islam are cooperating to complete this syndicate process. A source concerned has confirmed the truth of this. He has already taken over the seat of power as the dean with the blessings of the VC AHM Enayet Hossain, who was appointed by the murderer Hasina in a cunning way.

Even though the murderous fascist government led by him has departed after the July-August revolution, the ghosts of the Awami League of that time are still roaming around. It has been alleged that Dr. Nazmul Islam is trying to play an active role in the appointment of the officers and employees who are secretly agitating by spreading financial benefits and political influence. In this, the groups close to the ruling party of the previous regime, who supported Awami League, are once again getting an opportunity to enter the institution under new identities.

Reliable sources claim that the initiative to appoint new officials includes Assistant Registrar Anjan Debnath, Assistant College Inspector Maidul Islam Chowdhury, Assistant Director (Transportation and Development) Md. Golam Sarwar, Assistant Controller of Examinations Bilal Ahmed Chowdhury, Assistant Director (Budget) Shamsher Russell and Public Relations Officer Gazi Md. Faraj, including a total of 58 officers and employees.

It is worth noting that the ACC case is ongoing against all these individuals, which further questions the transparency of the recruitment process.

Meanwhile, there are rumors in local circles that Dr. Nazmul Islam has taken the post of Dean in his favor by compromising with the current Vice-Chancellor AHM Enayet Hossain, who was appointed during the Awami League era. He is taking forward the blueprint of the rehabilitation plan of the Awami League-supported syndicate groups that lost power during the movement. It is mysterious but true that for some unknown reason, General Secretary Dr. Shakil, who is in charge of DAB Sylhet, is also playing a very silent role in this.

On the other hand, Dr. There is also public anger over the use of the name Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Medical University, named after Sheikh Hasina’s family, in the notification signed by Nazmul Islam. According to critics, this is a gross insult to the memory of the martyrs of the July Revolution. The public demands that it is advisable to immediately appoint meritorious employees through a new recruitment notification instead of appointing all the officials and employees who were recruited through bribery during the fascist era.

When Dr. Nazmul was contacted on his mobile phone for an opportunity to defend himself on this issue, he first got angry and belittled the reporter and said, “What are you talking about? Who are you? What is this lobbying business? Come and talk to me face to face. What is this lobbying business? You know me, you know about me. I was the editor of a paper. My paper was closed. My newspaper was Sylhet Surma. You know me. It was closed not long ago. If you have anything to know, come and talk to me face to face. I can’t think of bribery. I didn’t do a government job to do my job.” At this time, he said that bribery is a common word in the context of the people of Bangladesh. These are nothing. In response to another question, he said, “Those who were under the Anti-Corruption Commission earlier, things will not be like this now.” The application has been requested, submitted, scrutiny is underway, scrutiny will be completed, then viva will be held, then the marks will be added and all seven committee members will take viva together, after which we will make a recommendation. Autonomy cannot be considered here. But you have to judge fairly. I can promise you that nothing will happen outside the system.

Similarly, when I tried to talk to the mobile phone of the in-charge General Secretary of DAB Sylhet, Dr. Shakeel, no statement could be taken as his mobile phone was switched off.
