Advisor for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Asif Nazrul believes that posters and graffiti played a role in the July movement. He said, we have not seen the powerful medium that graffiti can be in the political context of the last 15 years. Graffiti may not be around for a while; but if it is published, it will remain. From that point, I like the initiative of the Shilpakala Academy. A small poster can play a big role in creating a new narrative.

He said these things at the inauguration of the poster exhibition on the artwork of artist Debashis Chakraborty on the July Uprising organized by the Production Department of the Shilpakala Academy on Tuesday. The exhibition has started at the National Art Gallery Auditorium of the Shilpakala Academy. The exhibition will be open to everyone from 11 am to 8 pm every day until January 19.
The chief guest of the event was Dr. Asif Nazrul. The meeting was presided over by Shilpakala Academy Director General Dr. Syed Jamil Ahmed. Also present were photographer Shahidul Alam, BSS Managing Director Mahabub Morshed and Shilpakala Academy Fine Arts Department Director Mostafa Zaman. Writer and researcher Parvez Alam joined directly online from Amsterdam. Artist Debashis Chakraborty joined directly online from the United States.

In his speech as the president, Shilpakala Academy Director General Syed Jamil Ahmed said that artist Debashis Chakraborty has enviably shown how art can be a political tool and a work of art at the same time. There is no doubt about this. The new generation has a lot to learn from the artist.
