Dhaka //
Alleging that the Awami League has destroyed all the institutions of the country in the last 15 years, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the sports arena is a big example of this. They have also divided this arena into parties. The Awami League has not given a chance to good and talented players.
He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the Zia Inter-Station Football Tournament at the Pallabi City Club ground in the capital on Friday.
The BNP Secretary General said that now merit will be practiced. Everyone should get a chance. Good players must be brought out. Cricket is now very famous; but football was once a very popular game.
Highlighting the importance of sports, he said that players have a liberal mind. Their role in social work, including drug eradication, is very big. This is also the objective of the acting chairman of BNP. The youth of the society should avoid drugs and focus on sports.
Highlighting the contribution of the Zia family in sports, Mirza Fakhrul said, Arafat Rahman Koko played a big role in cricket. The foundation of the excellence achieved in the country’s cricket was laid by Koko.
He also said, this tournament should be spread all over the country. We should develop society through sports. I wish that everyone can unite and work together.
The game was inaugurated by Aminuk Haque, convener of Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP. In his inaugural speech, he said, we want such a sports ground through which we can create a drug-free nation. We can build a beautiful Bangladesh.
