Home Affairs and Agriculture Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) said that the Bangladesh-India border situation is now fairly normal. There is no tension there.

He said this at a view-exchange meeting with the armed forces, divisional officers of various departments and organizations under the Home Ministry, and Mymensingh region officials of various departments and organizations under the Agriculture Ministry at the Mymensingh City Corporation auditorium on Tuesday (January 14) afternoon.

Speaking as the chief guest, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that the Indian side is no longer building any barbed wire fences. The status quo prevails on the border now. There is a meeting of the BGB and BSF at the Director General level next month. The issue will be raised there. Moreover, efforts are being made to resolve the uneven agreements between the two countries regarding the border by reviewing them. The Home Ministry is also sending a letter to the concerned in this regard.

Earlier in the exchange of views, he said that those concerned should be vigilant and alert to prevent fires and other accidents in other important government institutions, including the KPI establishment. Regular drills should be held there to prevent fires. Unnecessary decorations should be stopped in government institutions. Because, the risk of fire accidents increases due to interior design at times.

The Home Affairs Advisor said that intelligence agencies should strengthen their activities by clearing the bad reputation of the past. Religious minorities should be ensured maximum security. However, fascists cannot be given any concessions under any circumstances. At the same time, he gave necessary instructions to the concerned to ensure the safety of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement.

The meeting, chaired by Mokhtar Ahmed, was attended by officials from the armed forces, all police units under the Mymensingh Range, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Ansar and Village Defense Force, Prisons Department, Fire Service and Civil Defense Department, Immigration and Passport Department, Narcotics Control Department and various departments and organizations under the Ministry of Agriculture in Mymensingh region.

Among others, DIG of Mymensingh Range of Police Dr. Md. Ashrafur Rahman, Regional Director of Department of Agricultural Extension Mymensingh Dr. Salma Laiju, Deputy Commissioner Mufidul Alam and Superintendent of Police Kazi Akhtar ul Alam were present at the meeting. Later, the advisor visited the Bangladesh Atomic Agriculture Research Institute (BINA) located on the premises of Bangladesh Agricultural University.
