Foreign Affairs Advisor to the interim government Md. Towhid Hossain said that Bangladesh will maintain foreign relations with important countries like China, India and the US while protecting its own interests.
He said this at a briefing at the Secretariat on Wednesday (January 15) on the occasion of his upcoming visit to China.
Md. Towhid Hossain said, India, China and the US are very important countries. Our relations with the three countries are important. We will maintain balanced relations. We do not want to displease anyone. We will maintain relations with them while protecting our own interests.
To a question about relations with Bangladesh after Trump took office, the advisor said, relations with the US or any other big country do not depend on the government. When the new government comes, they may have some say. We will see that. We do not think that relations with Bangladesh will stumble after the new government comes to power in the US.
He said, relations are a fluid thing. They will continue normally. Mutual demands and demands change more or less constantly. Then we will take the steps we need to take and we will be able to do so.
Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Towhid Hossain will visit China from January 21 to 23. During this time, he will meet with the Chinese Foreign Minister in Beijing. He is scheduled to deliver speeches at separate research organizations in Beijing and Shanghai. He will also visit several technology factories.
Express his opinion.
