It is mentioned that in the current (2024-25) fiscal year, under the budget of the Finance Department, an amount of Tk 150 crore has been allocated from the ‘Unexpected Expenditure Management Sector’ under the code 120016601 in favor of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs for the ‘Support to the Families of Martyrs and Medical Assistance to the Injured in the July Uprising’ out of Tk 232 crore 60 lakh under the ‘Support to the Families of Martyrs and Medical Assistance to the Injured in the July Uprising’ category, and Tk 150 crore has been allocated for medical assistance to the injured in the July Uprising.

This money will be given in 4 categories for the treatment of the injured. The 4 categories are:

1,000 people in Category ‘A’ will receive Tk 200,000 each, for a total of Tk 200,000. 3,000 people in Category ‘B’ will receive Tk 100,000 each, for a total of Tk 300,000. Each of the 4,000 injured in Category ‘C’ will receive a total grant of Tk 1 lakh each. And each injured in Category ‘D’ will receive Tk 50,000 each. In this case, 7,000 injured people will receive a total grant of Tk 35 crore.

In addition, Tk 25 crore will be given as a grant for the injured in the country and abroad.

The letter asks the Revenue and Expenditure Officer of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs to withdraw the Tk 150 crore through the appropriate bill and deposit it in the current account opened at Sonali Bank PLC, Ramna Corporate Branch under the name ‘Support to the families of martyrs in the July Uprising and Medical Grant Program’ to provide medical grants to the injured in the July Uprising, for a total grant of Tk 400,000.

Along with this, instructions have been given to purchase and transfer monthly profit-based savings certificates of Tk 10 lakh each for the martyrs’ families, which will be cashable on maturity.

According to the letter, all the prevailing financial rules and regulations must be followed properly in the expenditure of this money. A policy should also be issued to ensure transparency in the expenditure of the money allocated for the assistance to the families of the martyrs and medical grants to the injured in the July mass uprising.
