Russian Ambassador to Dhaka Alexander G. Khojin paid a courtesy call on Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain. He expressed his interest in hiring workers from Bangladesh to Russia.
The Russian Ambassador paid a courtesy call on Advisor Touhid Hossain at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday. Later, the Ambassador told reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the country is ready to discuss hiring workers from Bangladesh. However, Russia wants assurances about the return of migrant workers.
The Russian Ambassador said that he had discussed with the Advisor about hiring Bangladeshi workers. Russia wants to discuss hiring workers in agriculture, shipbuilding, tourism, residential or various service sectors.
He also said that the issue of hiring workers is not something that will be resolved in a day. However, Alexander G. Khojin, expressing readiness to discuss, said, “They are expecting a commitment to repatriate the workers before going into a memorandum of understanding or other process to send workers. This is very important. Bangladeshis are increasingly interested in working abroad. This commitment will act as insurance for both countries.”
At that time, regarding the payment of the dues of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, the ambassador said that they are ready to talk to the appropriate authorities about it. They are sure that the matter will be resolved. The sensitive issues here will be discussed by experts.
