BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman renewed his primary membership by paying twenty taka. He inaugurated the ‘BNP member renewal program’ by joining the Chairperson’s office in Gulshan, the capital, virtually on Monday afternoon and donating his own money.
At that time, he said, talented people must be brought to the fore. Hardworking, honest, and idealistic people must be united. They must be involved more and more with the party. We need good people in the coming days. Because, this state has been destroyed by the runaway dictatorship, taking it far behind. Therefore, if the party has to be reorganized, such people are needed. Such people must be brought out.
BNP Publicity Secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku moderated the inaugural ceremony, where the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee members Nazrul Islam Khan, Salauddin Ahmed, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Treasurer M Rashiduzzaman Millat also spoke. Along with them, senior leaders of the party also renewed their membership by filling out the forms on the day.
After the Sixth National Council, the last primary membership renewal program of BNP was held in 2017 through party chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Tarique Rahman said, after getting the support of the people, the country also has to be restructured. To restructure the country, to repair the state, I have presented 31 points before the people of the country. If that has to be implemented, the party must be unified and restructured.
He said, ‘The grassroots have to be organized. Now we have to work more, we have a huge task ahead of us. Let us show the enthusiasm and patriotism with which we did not give up even after the disappearances and murders and hundreds of tortures and persecutions against the dictatorship. We joined the movement against the dictatorship with thousands and millions of leaders and activists. In the same way, let us work together to reorganize the party. Then we will be able to reorganize the state as well.’
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the competition going on in politics now is not a competition of slogans. Now it is a competition of talent and intelligence. There is a competition of who can write and speak on social media. We must keep these things in mind. We cannot win the war ahead with slogans alone.
Mirza Fakhrul said that the posts of those who were members will be renewed. These renewal forms will go to the district, upazila, union and ward levels. Members must be informed that your membership is being renewed. If they do not know, they will lose interest. Sharing his experience in this regard, he said, “What happened in the past, especially our MP aspirants, bought everything and left. We need to take care of this. Let it go in an organizational manner. Those who are aspiring for MP should not take them again and leave.”
Criticizing the slogans raised by some workers at the shrine of party founder Ziaur Rahman on Sunday, Mirza Fakhrul said, “This is not politics. Such slogans should not come from the mouth of any political worker. This shows how big a bankruptcy of politics this can be. We have an extreme weakness in this place. We should get out of here.”
Mirza Fakhrul said, “Political training is very important in every district and upazila. How to give a speech, how to run a meeting, how to make a presentation, how to give an address, these things are very much needed. We really need to create a political party. We now have to become an ideological political party in the true sense.” He said, when we recruit in the future, let us make good and talented people members. Let the party become stronger in the future.
BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Chairperson’s Advisor Abdus Salam, Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon, Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Syed Emran Saleh Prince, Abdus Salam Azad, Organizing Secretary Mahbuber Rahman Shamim, Shama Obaid, Anindya Islam Amit, Shariful Alam, Dhaka Metropolitan North Convener Aminul Haque and others were present at the event.
