Environment Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan has said that if any government advisor is involved in forming a new political party, they will not remain in the government. At the same time, she also said that the interim government is not sponsoring the formation of any new party.
She said these things while talking to the media on Thursday.
Elections, new political parties, neutral government, etc. were discussed in an interview given by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam on BBC Bangla.
Regarding Mirza Fakhrul’s statement, Syeda Rizwana Hasan said, “What I understood from the main gist of the statement is that the government should not lose its neutrality. I think it can be said for sure that there is no chance for the government to lose its neutrality. Since this is a government that has come in a special context, it is not a caretaker government, it is an interim government.” Since this is a government formed in the wake of a mass uprising, we have three representatives here from the groups that are directly involved in and leading the mass uprising.
He further said, as these representatives, the three of them are forming a party or are in the citizens’ committee, which is not the case at all. If they ever think that they will be involved in the process of forming a new party, then they will leave the government. They can leave the government and form a party. Any person can join the process of forming a party at any time. Then they will no longer be able to remain in the government.
He further said, in response to the question raised about the government losing its neutrality, I will say that there is actually no such opportunity. No one will form a party from within the government. If someone wants to form a party, they will leave the government and then form a party. And from what I have read of his interview, he has repeatedly said that he has a relationship of trust with the government.
Regarding the allegation that the government is sponsoring the formation of political parties, he said that such allegations are baseless. If there are such allegations, I will say – I cannot find any basis. How will the government sponsor? Who is sponsoring in the government? What they have said from a place of fear can be taken as a warning. But so far I cannot see any basis. The government is not sponsoring in any way.
He also said, let me say another thing – the advisory council that has been formed, but all the political parties were involved in the formation of the advisory council. But we were not there. They elected us together and nominated us. In that case, those who have been agitating, they will be the first, that is natural. But if any of them forms a party, then ‘they will not be part of the government anymore’.
