Police members dismissed for various reasons during the previous government’s tenure are protesting demanding their reinstatement. The Police Headquarters has urged them not to create public suffering by blocking roads.

A press release sent by the media wing of the Police Headquarters on Friday said that 1,522 applications from dismissed police members have already been received at the Police Headquarters. Among the applicants, 1,025 are constables, 79 are naiks, 180 are ASIs/ATSIs, 200 are SIs/Sergeants/TSIs, 10 are inspectors and 28 are non-police members. A committee formed under the leadership of the DIG is working to review their applications for reinstatement. The applications are being thoroughly scrutinized. It is being investigated whether they have been victims of political vendetta or not. However, it appears that they have also been dismissed for criminal/financial/moral/behavioral/departmental discipline violations.

Police Headquarters said that many of their applications are also pending under the Administrative Tribunal/Administrative Appellate Tribunal. Police Headquarters is working sincerely to ensure that the dismissed police members get justice. Already on January 29, the dismissed police members formed a human chain in front of the Police Headquarters, even after a delegation led by a senior police officer went to them and explained the matter in detail, the dismissed police members carried out programs like blocking roads, causing public suffering.
