A mob attacked and set on fire the house of Tofail Ahmed, a member of the Awami League’s advisory council and former minister, and a senior politician, on Gazipur Road in Bhola. The house was set on fire at 1:45 am on Wednesday (February 5). The house was still on fire as of the time of writing this report.
Eyewitnesses said that at 12:30 am, a procession of the angry mob went to Gazipur Road. During this time, the marchers attacked and vandalized Tofail Ahmed’s house named Priyo Kutir on Gazipur Road and set it on fire at one point. The angry mob was seen bringing furniture from inside Tofail Ahmed’s house outside and setting it on fire. Eyewitnesses also said that the house was on fire until 2 am. At that time, the angry mob was stationed in the area including the road in front of the house.
