The state media department of the territory has expressed fears that at least 12,000 bodies are buried under the collapsed houses in Gaza, which were reduced to rubble by Israel’s genocidal campaign.
The announcement came just as Tel Aviv was blocking heavy equipment from entering Gaza to remove the rubble.
Salama Ma’ruf, head of the state media department in Gaza, said at a press conference at the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City on Friday that the work of removing bodies from under the collapsed buildings is being accelerated due to the ban on heavy equipment from entering Gaza.
She said that if Israel continues to block them like this, it will not be possible to recover and hand over the bodies of the hostage-takers who were killed under the houses in the airstrikes held by Hamas.
Israel’s more than 15-month-long massacre in Gaza has killed 47,583 Palestinians. In addition, another 111,633 Palestinians have been injured. About 70 percent of the casualties are women and children.
After failing to achieve its goal of “destroying” Hamas in Gaza and rescuing hostages alive, Israel was forced to sign a ceasefire agreement with Hamas on January 15. Although the agreement was supposed to allow heavy equipment to enter Gaza to remove rubble, Tel Aviv has been continuously violating that promise.
Earlier on Friday, the Gaza Media Office warned that Israel was not allowing the minimum number of aid trucks to enter Gaza daily as stipulated in the ceasefire agreement. The aid currently entering the valley is not able to meet the minimum needs of the residents here. Source: Meher News
