Two Indian soldiers have lost their lives in a horrific IED (Improvised Explosive Device) blast in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir, India.
The Indian Army confirmed this information in a statement on Tuesday (February 11).
The Army’s White Knight Corps wrote in a post on social media X, “The White Knight Corps salutes and pays tribute to the supreme sacrifice of the two brave soldiers.”
Indian media outlet NDTV reported that the soldiers were patrolling the fence in the area adjacent to the Line of Control (LoC) when the blast occurred. After the attack, the troops have launched a search operation in the area.
Meanwhile, violence is increasing in Kashmir. Just a day earlier, on Monday (February 10), an exchange of fire took place along the border line in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district. In this, an Indian soldier was seriously injured.
According to military sources, he was stationed at a forward post when terrorists launched a covert attack. The injured soldier was rushed to a military hospital.
Earlier, on February 8, suspected armed infiltrators tried to cross the LoC in the Kerry sector, resulting in an exchange of fire with Indian forces. Indian media claimed that the attackers were waiting to cross the border and enter India. Tensions in the Kashmir region are intensifying with one attack after another. The army is on high alert to deal with the situation.
