Attorney General Advocate Mohammad Asaduzzaman said that army officers were killed in Peelkhana in collusion with international conspirators to keep the Awami League in power. And a neighboring state implemented the blueprint of the Peelkhana massacre to maintain their influence. Stating that the masterminds behind the murder will not be spared, he said that it should be investigated whether the leaders of the Jubo League and Chhatra League participated in the Peelkhana massacre by wearing BDR uniforms.
The Peelkhana massacre is a horrific and discussed incident in Bangladesh, which took place in Peelkhana, the headquarters of the Bangladesh Rifles (now Border Guard Bangladesh or BGB). In this, 74 army officers were killed, which is considered the biggest blow to the military in Bangladesh. This incident has become a very important and controversial event in the political history of Bangladesh.
On 25 February 2009, a mutiny broke out at the BDR headquarters in Peelkhana (Dhaka). It was mainly due to unrest, anger, and demands among the BDR members. The mutinies were expressing their anger against the higher authorities for their temporary territorial privileges. In addition, the mutiny was triggered by the deterioration of their salaries, promotions, and working conditions. The mutinies killed about 74 army officers and burned their bodies. Of these, 57 were army officers, one army officer and his wife, and several others were killed. The mutinies carried out violence against their authorities inside Peelkhana and stole important security information and equipment.
