The tyrannical Awami League has taken away the voting rights of the common people by holding three sham elections since 2014, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has said. He said, Sheikh Hasina has killed thousands of people just to stay in power. They also destroyed the right to live normally. Sheikh Hasina was forced to flee the country in the July coup. Now is the time to establish human rights; now is the time to build a new country.
Tarique Rahman said these words while joining the district BNP biennial conference at the Narail Government Boys High School grounds virtually from London on Sunday after a long 16 years.
He said, BNP has stood by the people even when times are tough. It has remained committed to the welfare of the people. Now we have to go to the doorsteps of the people with 31 points to reform the state. It is our responsibility to rebuild this state. We have to work so that the next generation can stand on a solid foundation.
The conference was inaugurated by the Chairperson’s Advisor Aman Ullah Aman under the chairmanship of District BNP President Biswas Jahangir Alam. Addressing the government, he said, “Don’t waste time in the name of reforms and hold elections quickly. The elected government can do reforms. If you delay too much, the people will take to the streets again.”
The conference was addressed by BNP’s Khulna Division Acting Organizing Secretary Anindya Islam Amit, Co-Organizing Secretary Jayanta Kumar Kundu, District BNP Vice President Zulfikar Ali, General Secretary Monirul Islam, Organizing Secretary Shahriar Rizvi George, and others.
In the second session of the conference, 707 voters from a total of seven units of four police stations and three municipalities in the district cast ballots and elected leaders. Biswas Jahangir Alam was re-elected as the president and Monirul Islam as the general secretary. The last biennial conference of the district BNP was held in November 2009.
