China is ready to implement Teesta project, Bangladesh must take decision: Chinese Ambassador

Chinese Ambassador to Dhaka Yao Wen said that China is ready to implement Teesta project if Bangladesh wants. However, Bangladesh will have to decide independently on the project as it is a river in its own territory.

He said this at a press conference at the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka on Tuesday. In response to a question from journalists, the Chinese Ambassador said that China is ready to implement Teesta project. The Chinese Ambassador said that three hospitals have been prepared in Kunming for the treatment of Bangladeshis. China will not comment on this. He also said that the Chinese Communist Party wants to maintain good relations with all political parties in this country.

The Chinese ambassador said that China has proposed to establish a Chinese cultural center in Bangladesh and a Bangladeshi cultural center in China in exchange for cultural programs between the two countries. In response to a question, the Chinese ambassador said that Bangladesh and China have the same position on the Rohingya issue. China wants a solution to this issue. In response to a question, the Chinese ambassador said that China’s attention has been drawn to the incorrect map of the China-Arunachal border in Bangladesh’s textbooks and websites.

We have informed the Bangladesh government about this. We seek the support of the Bangladesh government in this regard, and hope that China’s expectations will be reflected in this regard. The Chinese ambassador said that China wants relations with Bangladesh based on mutual respect and equality.

Bangladesh has expressed its support for the One China Policy and the Belt and Road Initiative. China is grateful to Bangladesh for this. Yao Wen said that the Foreign Advisor’s visit to China will play a special role in developing bilateral relations between the two countries.

It is worth noting that Foreign Advisor M Touhid Hossain visited China on January 21-24. The Chinese embassy organized a press conference to inform about this.
