Former police officer Asaduzzaman Mia has been found to have vast wealth in various parts of Dhaka city. However, this mountain of wealth is not only in his own name, but also in the names of his wife, three children, brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
Asaduzzaman Mia was the Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police from January 2015 to September 2018. He has built a mountain of wealth in transfer trading and bribery in DMP. Multiple lands, multiple flats and gold shops have been found in his name in different areas of Dhaka city.
6 plots were found in Sector 1 of New Town, Purbachal. He sold 2 of them a few days ago. Two sons and a daughter have 3 plots of 7.5 katha each. He has built a car shed on a plot of 10 katha. Each plot here is worth more than 5 crore taka.
He has taken a total of 21 katha plots in Aftabnagar. Of which 11 kathas are in his own name and the remaining 10 kathas are in the name of relatives.
Siddheshwari has a 4,000 square foot flat in Rupayan Swapna Nilay. Which is registered in the name of his daughter. Asaduzzaman’s wife has a flat in Eskaton Garden. Its estimated value is more than 4 crore taka. In addition to the duplex house in Nikunja, there is also a six-storey house in Bashundhara Abasik. The value is more than 10 crore taka.
In addition, there is a 5 katha of land, a 6-storey house in Joar Sahara. And one bigha of land in Kayet Para, Rupganj.
It doesn’t end here. Asaduzzaman Mia was the head of the route permit committee of the capital. At that time, the route permit was given to Moumita Paribahan. The chairman of this Moumita Paribahan is his wife Afroza Zaman and the vice chairman is his brother-in-law Harisur Rahman Sohan.
When asked about the ownership and legality of these properties, Asaduzzaman said, ‘Every one of these properties is mine. These are properly accounted for by the government.
However, the income tax return could not be found to match his statement.
