Livestock Advisor Farida Akhter recently advised caution in declaring poultry farms as industries.
She said, “You have made a mistake, and that is declaring your poultry farms as industries. Industry means high costs, high electricity bills, and high taxes. When you move from the service or agricultural sector to the industrial sector, you have an opportunity for additional spending.”
Farida Akhter said, “One thing to consider is that this is a service sector. You are providing food, and that is protein, which has a direct impact on the future of our next generation. It is not just food, but an important source of meeting the nutritional needs of the country’s youth.”
She also said, “The youth who brought about change in the July-August movement must have eaten poultry meat. A large portion of university youth survive by eating poultry meat and eggs. Usually, university students can get this protein at a low price, which is one of the sources of meeting their food needs.”
Farida Akhter mentioned the importance of involving youth in the poultry sector and said, “In the coming days, education and training arrangements will have to be made to bring youth forward as entrepreneurs in this sector. We are working on this so that the younger generation can play a greater role in the poultry sector.”
She called for the proper management of the poultry sector as a service sector and advised to be more aware of its impact.
