A robbery incident took place on a moving bus from Dhaka to Rajshahi. However, Tangail Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman said that no rape incident took place.
He said that initially we have come to know that no rape incident took place. Some gold and silver were looted from the women. The robbers touched the women in the car while taking their nose rings and earrings. This can be called molestation.
The Superintendent of Police made these statements in a press release at his office around 11:30 am on Saturday (February 22). Mirzapur Police Station Officer Atikuzzaman has been dismissed for negligence of duty in this incident.
The Superintendent of Police said that three people involved in the robbery and molestation incident on a moving bus have been arrested in various areas of Savar. At that time, three mobile phones, a knife and 29 thousand 370 taka were recovered from them. They were arrested using information technology and various sources within 24 hours of the case being filed.
The arrested are Md. Shahidul Islam (29), Md. Sabuj (30) and Md. Sharifuzzaman (28). He also said that they will be sent to the court for a 5-day remand.
Earlier, on Monday (February 17) night, a robbery incident took place in the Mirzapur area of a bus going from Dhaka to Rajshahi for 3 hours. Two women were allegedly molested. Later, the passengers blocked the bus and sought help from the Baraigram police station in Natore.
Later, the bus driver Bablu, supervisor Mahbub and helper Sumon, who were detained by the bus passengers, were handed over to the Baraigram police station. They were produced in court under Section 54 and released on bail.
On Thursday night, bus passenger Omar Ali filed a case with Mirzapur Police Station against 8 to 9 unknown people as accused in the incident.
