In Singra, Natore, a third grade student was allegedly beaten to death by two fifth grade students of the same school over a football game.
The incident took place at a school in Singra upazila on Monday around 1:30 pm.
Eyewitness classmates said that when there was a dispute over a football game, two fifth grade students climbed on the chest of the third grade student and strangled him. He was seriously injured.
The headmaster of the institution, Rahidul Islam Ranju, said that I was in Singra for school work. Three out of the four teachers of the school were present. Since it was tiffin period, the teachers were in the mosque to offer prayers. At that time, the students were playing sports in the institution’s grounds. Suddenly, a third grade student and two fifth grade students got into an argument over a football game. At one point, the third grade student was seriously injured in their beating and died on the way to the hospital.
Upazila Primary Education Officer Ali Ashraf confirmed the incident and said that the incident took place during a fight between students during sports during the tiffin period.
Singra Police Station OC Asmaul Haque said that police were sent to the spot after receiving the information. An investigation is underway. Meanwhile, Singra Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar visited the spot after receiving the information.
