Interim government Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said in a status on his personal Facebook account, no government can shut down the internet completely even if it wants to.

In the status, he said, the main reason for inviting Elon Musk’s Starlink is; no government can shut down the internet completely even if it wants to. In the last 16 years, the government has shut down or limited internet services many times, which is especially alleged to have been used as a tactic to suppress protests and suppress opposition parties. As a result, millions of freelancers, call center and business process outsourcing (BPO) sector workers in the country have been the most affected. As a result of the internet shutdown, many freelancers have lost their contracts and jobs, some have even lost their job opportunities permanently.
This is a groundbreaking step in the country’s technology sector and independent internet use. After Starlink arrives in Bangladesh, this satellite-based internet service will make the country’s freelancing sector safer.
