Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus recently spoke about maintaining law and order in an exclusive interview with BBC Bangla.
The Chief Advisor was asked, according to police statistics, the number of robberies has increased by 50% in the last 6 months. Where is the problem in controlling this?
In response, the Chief Advisor said, we are trying. I know the problem and you know it. Initially, the police force, who work to maintain law and order, were not taking to the streets out of fear. Because a few days ago, this police force shot people, so they get scared when they see people. It took us a few months to fix them.
Then the Chief Advisor was asked, another thing we are seeing is mob or group chaos. Many buildings across the country, including Dhanmondi 32, have been vandalized. You have called for a stop, but why did the law and order forces not play an effective role in stopping it?
In response, the chief advisor said, “The police force is still taking some time to prepare mentally, they have not yet completely freed themselves from their previous mentality. But we are trying to fully activate them.”
