Two youths were killed in a mob lynching on suspicion of being robbers in Satkania, Chittagong. Earlier, four local residents were injured in the shooting by the youths. The incident took place in the Chhonkhola Paschimpara area of ​​Aochia Union in Satkania on Monday night.

The police could not immediately confirm the identities of the deceased youths.

The four local residents who were shot are Obaidul Haque (22), Mamunur Rashid (45), Nasir Uddin (38) and Abbas Uddin (38).

Police have seized a pistol, eight bullet shells and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw from the scene.

According to police and local residents, a group of youths in four CNG-powered autorickshaws went to the Chhonkhola Paschimpara area between 9:30 and 10:00 pm on Monday and started firing indiscriminately. At that time, after spreading the news that a local mosque had been robbed, people gathered and arrested two youths who came in the autorickshaw and beat them up. The two youths were killed on the spot.

Police recovered a pistol from the body of a youth. Before the two youths were arrested, four people injured in the shooting were taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Chittagong District Superintendent of Police (SP) Saiful Islam, Satkania Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Milton Biswas, a team of District Detective Branch (DB) and members of Satkania Police Station visited the scene.

Satkania Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Jahedul Islam said that two youths were killed in a beating by local residents after spreading the news on the mosque’s microphone on suspicion of robbery. The identities of the two youths have not been confirmed yet.
