US President Donald Trump will speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin about ending the war in Ukraine. He said he will speak tomorrow, Tuesday.
According to a Reuters report, Trump told reporters on Air Force One while traveling from Florida to Washington, “We want to see if it is possible to end this war. Maybe we can, maybe we can’t, but I think we have a very good chance.”
He said, “I will speak with President Putin on Tuesday. A lot of work has been done in the meantime.”
Trump is trying to get Putin’s support for the 30-day ceasefire proposal that Ukraine accepted last week. However, both sides have continued heavy air strikes over the weekend and Russia has come close to expelling Ukrainian forces from the western Russian region of Kursk.
There was no immediate response from the Kremlin after Reuters requested it.
